House Rule
Before entering the Lounge, visitors will be given a run down of the House Rules:
- Please no running, jumping, skipping, etc. while in the lounge. Walk steadily and carefully to avoid startling the cats.
- Keep your voice at an indoor level at all times, like you would in a library. No yelling or raised voices.
- Please do not pick up the cats in the lounge. Some are not comfortable with being held while others may have just recently been fixed and may have stitches on their stomachs.
- Some cats may want to sit on your lap and this is perfectly okay! Just let us know if you are not comfortable with it.
- Please do not stand on any furniture in the lounge, including the blue-tile bench along the far wall. If there are cats in the high shelves, this usually means they would like to be left alone.
- When cats are on the shelves along the wall or higher up in the cat trees, we ask that you do not use any toys to play with them, as there have been accidents where a cat may jump or fall off of the shelf trying to get to it. You are allowed to pet them.
- You may pet sleeping cats so long as you are gentle and quiet so as not to startle them.
- We ask that you use the provided toys–not your hands–if you wish to play with any of the cats in the Lounge. We don’t want you getting scratched or bitten by accident.
- Please keep all wand toys at ground level, we do not want the cats jumping too high and accidentally injuring themselves by slipping on the tile.
- Do not throw the toys to the cats, roll them on the floor to the cats for them to chase.
- Please do not use laser pointers or your phone reflection as a toy.
- Please do not move furniture around–especially the larger furniture like cat trees and scratching posts.
- Do not stack toys on top of sleeping cats.
- Please do not put your face right up close to a cat. We would hate for them to be startled and swat or scratch at you.
- Do not let cats drink human drinks.
- Do not interrupt or bother cats when they are eating or drinking.
- Please do not sit in front of the archways at the front of the Lounge. Staying there temporarily to pet a cat is fine so long as you are not blocking the archways for the cats to come through.
- Please be sure to turn off the flash on your camera or phone when taking pictures.
- Do not get in between a cat fight. The Lounge Attendants will handle it.
- We have two doors leading into the Lounge from the Cafe. You may go in or out as much as you like as long as one door is closed before the next door opens.
- Please sanitize your hands before going into the Cat Lounge.
- If you bring children, please refer to our Child Policy.
